Deck Safety Course Length: 8 hours Overview: The deck safety class encourages offshore maritime personnel to learn safe maritime vessel practices in the offshore environment. Additional practice is given in entry level navigational charting, light recognition, and math formulas. Course Required by: Company specific Prerequisites: None required. Course Objectives: Upon completion of this training the student will be familiar with: 1. State and Federal laws and regulations as they pertain to boating and vessel operation. 2. Aspects of boating that not only help you become a safer team member onboard a maritime vessel. 3. Issues in boating which could potentially be dangerous to the marine environment. 4. Making boaters aware of their responsibility to themselves, their shipmates, and other vessel maritime traffic. Written Exam: SMS requires a minimum score of 70%. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of course.
