Overview: Employees who work offshore and whose job requires them to transfer between vessels and platforms are provided training and education in the skills needed to properly perform this job function. Students learn the recommended safe marine transfer practices and procedures used for offshore rigs, platforms, boats, and helicopters as defined by API RP 2D 5th edition.
Course Length: 4 hours
Course Objectives: The student will participate in developing a Job Safety Analysis on the following Maritime Personnel Transfers:
- Dock to maritime vessel transfer
- Gangway to maritime vessel transfer
- Billy Pugh Personnel Transfer Net
- Offshore Platform Swing Rope
- Offshore personnel helicopter loading
Upon completion of this training the student will be familiar with developing a job safety analysis on the safe use of maritime gangways, personnel carrier devices, platform swing ropes, and helicopter safety awareness.
CFR Reference: API RP 2D 5th edition
Course Required By: Offshore Marine Industry standard Best Practice, OSHA
Written Exam: Marine Industry Best Practice recommends having a minimum score of 70%. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of course.
Retraining: Student is responsible for retraining every four years.
