Overview: The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) course is designed to familiarize the employee with OSHA regulations affecting the use of personal protective equipment and provide employees with the skills needed to maintain and clean the equipment to protect themselves against hazards in the workplace.  The module addresses head, hand, eye, and foot protection.

Course Objectives: Upon completion of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) training, the student will be familiar with:

• The necessity of PPE
• Proper PPE to be worn when work is being performed
• The proper don, doff, adjust and wear of PPE
• Limitations of the PPE
• The proper care, maintenance, useful life, and disposal of the PPE

Written Exam: SMS requires a minimum score of 70%. Incorrectly answered questions will be reviewed with student to ensure understanding before completion of course.

Retraining: When the employer has reason to believe that any affected employee who has already been trained does not have the understanding and skill required of the training, the affected employee will be retrained.  Circumstances where retraining is required include, but are not limited to, situations where:

• changes in the workplace render previous training obsolete
• changes in the types of PPE to be used render previous training obsolete, and
• inadequacies in an affected employee's knowledge or use of assigned PPE indicate that the employee has not retained the requisite understanding or skill.
